Erik Satie inspired me to write my latest song (which still needs to be rehearsed a bit more, but expect another one of my compositions to show up sometime soon!). But I find this so pretty.
From what I’ve learned in my 20th century music history class, Erik Satie’s philosphy was to get rid of the grand orchestration that came with the music of Debussy, Ravel, and even Beethoven. He thought music should be stripped down to only the essential parts. (hinting at minimalism anyone?). However I must admit, he was onto something. This song is so pretty.
Here’s the score to follow along with while listening.
